Traditional and wildlife ponds

we are able to construct and design ponds that compliment their surroundings either rural or urban. They are generally constructed with a high quality commercial liner and geo-fabric underlay, or clay if of a suitable quality . When constructing a wildlife pond using a liner we use a geo-fabric underlay below and on top the liner , we then put top soil or a material of the clients preference cobbles or boulders etc on top of the underlay. A wildlife pond is generally never any deeper than 1.2metres and more usually about .6 meters at its deepest with gently sloping batters allowing easy access in and out of the pond

Establishing a wildlife pond takes time and you could just leave it to establish or give it a kick start by planting up with suitable plants both bank side and water side, and remember apart from water these are the most essential ingredients of a balanced and healthy pond. We are able to supply and plant up your pond for you or draw up a list for you to plant up your self.

Waterfalls & streams

it is perfectly possible to construct a stream that looks totally natural given the right landscape to site it in, we need to give it extra protection as children and dogs tend to play in streams. Waterfalls tend to fall in to two different catergories the small shallow ones that tend to be used to feed the water supply into a pond and the large dramatic ones that are built as a feature in their own right .

Cleaning de-silting your pond

all ponds need de-silting or cleaning out at some time due to leaf debris etc that builds up on the bottom of the pond over the years resulting in silt. If your pond has fish and wildlife this is not a problem to us when emptying your pond, we are able to provide portable holding tanks from small ones up to 700 gallon tanks with their own filter systems that we transfer all the fish, wildlife and plants into prior to draining your pond. We are then able to refill your pond with water that is originally from your pond and is full of the living things that contribute to a healthy pond.

Leaks and re-lining

If you pond is losing a dramatic loss of water not just due to evaporation the chances are you have a leak some where. These are generally repairable if you pond is clay lined or is lined with a quality liner, its not so east with PVC or plastic liners. With clay lined ponds we could repuddle the area where the clay has broken down or dig a cut-off trench and fill with clay. Commercial liners are fairly simple to repair if you can see the leak, its just a case of fixing a patch to the hole or tear, there may be instances where your pond is going to require relining If your pond is lined with a poor liner and roots or stones are the cause or you have no underlay then you will definitely need to think about getting it relined. We will be more than happy to visit and give you advice on what the best course of action is in our opinion.

Bank erosion and conservation

We undertake a variety of bank revetment work using products that help stop bank erosion, such as coir rolls or nico-span. We aim to offer the best option that best suits the customers needs.

Jetty`s, Boardwalks & Decking

We are able to construct a bespoke jetty or a deck that extends out across your pond, we can all so provide you with a timber board walk that enables you to cross wet bogy areas or to skirt around the perimeter of a pond.
